Nonprofit Vitamin client Penn-Mar Human Services has spent more than 40 years supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across MD and PA. And we’re always proud to share the amazing work they’ve done- especially when it comes to workforce inclusion. One of Penn-Mar’s main goals is to match those they support, eager to start a career in a field they enjoy, with local businesses that need dedicated and positive employees.

And Vitamin is always happy to share that message.

As the 2022 holiday season ramped up, businesses across the region were clamoring for workers. Vitamin’s team saw a perfect, and timely, opportunity to pitch Penn-Mar’s Customized Employment program to regional press, sharing a terrific hiring option for local companies. But the story could also highlight the incredible work the nonprofit continues to do on behalf of the IDD community.

WBAL-tv11 jumped on the idea, and shared the story of a popular local business who found a fantastic employee through Penn-Mar’s program. In the process, the story showcased how other owners and managers could navigate the workforce shortage for the holidays, and beyond.
