In August 2020, long-time nonprofit human services client Penn-Mar Human Services embarked on a historic fundraising mission that would transform the group’s abilities to support the intellectual and developmentally disabled (IDD) community they serve: the Building Bold Futures campaign. At $7.5 million, the campaign was far and away the largest fundraising endeavor the nonprofit had ever attempted. It was created after Penn-Mar leadership analyzed what efforts and plans were necessary to not just solidify and expand the organization’s current services, but enable remarkable and innovative new avenues for programming and support.
With the Covid pandemic creating ongoing uncertainty, nothing about the campaign would be easy. But as our clients are fond of saying, transformative change is never easy!
Vitamin provided initial support via ongoing media outreach and public relations, creating and disseminating a detailed press release that outlined why the campaign was happening, who it would help, and how the money would be used to help the IDD community. Vitamin contacted media organizations across Pennsylvania and Maryland, drafted and posted engaging social media content to rally philanthropic users on Penn-Mar’s behalf, and shared Penn-Mar’s creative content as well, including a campaign video.
And as we expected, Penn-Mar’s amazing fortitude and positivity were unstoppable. On March 4, 2023, they reached the successful completion of the campaign on its final day, during Penn-Mar’s 31st annual Gala event, securing every cent of the $7.5 million.
Vitamin was honored to help share the success, creating a comprehensive press release that was pitched to all relevant media. Multiple media outlets covered the completion of the campaign including The Baltimore Sun, Maryland Daily Record, Capital Gazette, and MSN.com. It was news we were happy to share on behalf of a terrific organization.
