Why Butterfinger Will Make You Want to Watch the Playoffs
If you obey all of the rules, you’ll miss all of the fun.
— Katharine Hepburn
That’s a quote that we actually have hanging in our office, and it perfectly sets the tone for Butterfinger’s latest campaign announcement. Butterfinger announced that it will pay up to $50,000 in NFL excessive celebration fines levied against NFL players through Super Bowl 50 as part of its “Be Bold” Superbowl campaign.
The move comes after the NFL announced last year that they will be cracking down on players who excessively celebrate in the end zone after a touchdown. So who better to promote the campaign than notorious touchdown celebrator Terrell Owens and Billy Eichner from TruTV’s hilarious show, Billy on the Street.
Our take: The campaign is a creative way to get in on the Super Bowl hype. The picks for spokespeople make complete sense and the campaign teaser is hilarious. Plus, it’s a great, guilt-free way for players to get creative with their celebrations.
However, we think the tagline “Bolder Than Bold” is a little weird for a product like Butterfingers — how bold can you look eating a delicious chocolate treat? Maybe “Be Guilt Free” would be better.

And to get into the Super Bowl spirit, here are a few of our favorite end zone celebrations (you know, before that sort of thing was banned):
