Business Development Specialist

Job Description

The primary focus of the Business Development Specialist is to support the facilitation of new business for the agency’s accounts team, with a focus on mid-size companies across the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly the DMV.

Working with, and under, the guidance of Vitamin leadership and the agency’s Director of Communications, the Specialist will execute an intentional architecture to conduct outreach to high-quality pre-determined prospects and secure appointments for leadership. This person will also develop a deep understanding of Vitamin’s capabilities, past and current client portfolio, services, team structure, and target industries.

Compensation

$60,000 annual base salary + commission + yearly bonus

Job Role

  • Works with agency leadership throughout the pitch process
  • Performs cold calls and digital communication to prospects using provided lists
  • Generation of new prospect lists in collaboration with Director of Communications
  • Maintains communication with prospects throughout initial outreach process
  • Participates in select networking events with Vitamin leadership
  • Maintains documentation of status of outreach progress and next steps, and submits regular reports of progress
  • Communicates feedback from prospects and collaborates with leadership on outreach strategy
  • Creates introduction opportunities between prospects and Vitamin leadership
  • Relays discovery of new potential prospects with leadership team

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in business development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly take direction and execute plans
  • Diligent with details and follow-through
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage multiple deadlines
  • Exceptional integrity to reliably follow through on commitments
  • Positive attitude, good sense of humor, flexibility, and transparency
  • Experience in a marketing, PR, or ad agency environment is a plus
  • Highest standards of professionalism and discretion
  • Salary and commission commensurable on experience
